Wilderness Walk: Have You Run Out Of Graves?

Have You Run Out of Graves?

How did God not have enough of the Israelites? They caused Him so much grief. Once delivered from hostile captivity beneath Pharaoh’s rule, they still gave Moses a hard time, while rebelling against God.

I mean, really, come on people!!! (kidding)

Then I remembered the time there was not enough money in my account to pay the mortgage. I’d prayed over the house before buying it, and praised God for delivering it to me. Yet when times got tight, I did the very same thing they did – doubted His promise and provision.

Two things I understand without fail:

  1. God always keeps His promises.
  2. God won’t provide provision until He gives you vision.

They said to Moses, “Have you taken us away to die in the wilderness because there were no graves in Egypt? Why have you dealt this way with us, to bring us out of Egypt?

~ Exodus 14:11

Reliance and faith sometimes require a process. The Israelites’ journey was a process. Even the 40 years they toiled wandering the wilderness before the promise land wasn’t wasted time. They were acquiring skills needed for their next faith phase.

We also “wander” before a spiritual breakthrough so that God’s will and vision become clear. How long we wander is

not based on how bad we want the provision, it’s how long it takes for us to want God’s will for our lives.

Having an open hand with a closed heart gets you nothing but an empty palm. God didn’t lead them into the wilderness to die. He led them there so they might have eternal life.

Much Love/Respect,

Scott
