I’m Sorry, Does My Worship Bother You?

Incredible night of worship at Gateway’s Men’s Summit 2018

Slow Your Roll

Visiting a church while out of town many years ago, I was told to “Slow your roll,” during worship. It seemed they didn’t “like” when people raised their hands in praise.

Only the Holy Spirit fled from that place quicker than I did.

I’m in 2 Samuel this week and was reminded of that event while studying the 6th chapter. It details the newly crowned king of Israel, David’s response to criticism of his “roll.”

David may not have been perfect, but his heart for God sure was. Don’t allow others to define your worship, or your relationship with God. He created us to know us in a very unique and special way.

Roll on King David –

“…So I danced Before God, and will dishonor myself even more than this, and will be low in my own eyes.”

2 Samuel 6:21-22

2 Year Old TV Mover? Not Gonna Happen, Right?

“Rak Chazak Amats”

I love this ancient Hebrew battle cry. It has launched many victories for God. It empowers you to be strong, hold your ground and never even consider the possibilities of defeat.

Can you imagine if we adopted the holy mindset of not considering the possibilities of defeat in our marriage, health, family, job, friendships and faith?

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 31:6-8

Not Impossible

I have an old black and white picture of me at about two years old. It was taken in 1967, and typical of that era, we had a giant console TV in the corner that easily weighed over one hundred pounds.

The story my mom told me was that I wanted it moved so I could play in that corner. Not only did I want it moved, but I was going to move it by myself. Easy right?

She said I got ahold of that big wooden box and grunted with every expectation that I’d lift it.

When my dad laughed and asked, “You need help?”

I said, “Nope.”

The balance between a child-like faith and a warrior’s spirit is an unbeatable combination. God encourages us to live in this balance.
