There are four steps to learning.
Step #1: Unconscious Incompetence – You don’t know that you don’t know
Step #2: Conscious Incompetence – You know that you don’t know
Step #3: Conscious Competence – You know that you know
Step #4: Unconscious Competence – You know it so well you don’t have to consciously think on it
Good example is the teenager that first wants to drive a car. Step #1 big time! Give them a few years and they are like most of us, step #4. Driving and talking on the phone while you eat a sandwich – is that even legal?
Learning is a process, and to master something you will go through all four steps at some point. If you are struggling with finances, in your marriage, or any other important area of life, you need to start learning how to get to step #4.
The problem in many people’s life, especially men because of PRIDE, is they will not go through the necessary learning process because they think they are at #3, but they are really at #1, Big Time!
Give in and go to the weekend marriage seminar. Read that book. Join that Bible study group. Your life can go into cruise if you can reach #4 in the process.
Lord Bless,
Ronnie Melancon
