I told one of my grandsons the other day that he didn’t always have to be the best, but he did always have to do his best. I don’t remember where I first heard this axiom (a self-evident truth), but it is definitely sound advice.
To do your best requires certain things in your life. One of the most important is a determined desire. Proof of desire is pursuit, but without consistency desire alone isn’t enough. In fact – Discipline, not Desire will determine your Destiny.
I have witnessed so many Police Officers that work hard on physical disciplines, because the demands of the job require it. That is an important part of becoming the very best you can be, but it is a tragedy when someone neglects the Spiritual Disciplines for their life. It is absolutely impossible to be the very best you, that you were meant to be, without Spiritual Disciplines.
The divine order of the make-up of your being is Spirit, Soul, and Body (1Thesalonians 5:23). This must be the order in which you discipline your life. Get it out of order, or neglect just one of them, and you will never become who God created you to be. In fact, you will also never find true peace or contentment either.
Let your Spiritual Pursuit of God be governed by daily and consistent disciplines of prayer, bible reading, and a lifestyle of honesty, loyalty, and integrity. This is your most important step in becoming the Best You, You can Be.
