The Most Powerful Sermon
My son and I moved to the city where I accepted the chief of police position. I (we) are always on the go and the weekends together are spent making up for everyone and everywhere we miss.
I will share with you that he has Down syndrome and was 5 years old at the time. He does not know the days of the week, the hours of the day, and relied on sign language due to underdeveloped verbal skills. However, he is a prayer warrior (him at table still praying while other kids eat.)
Because of this constant running about, Sunday church service suffered. Lets be honest, it had been a while.
On the particular occasion that I was blessed with this powerful message, my son and I were hustling through the house. Actually, we were not dressed, nor headed there. We were staying inside on a cold rainy January Sunday morning.
My son walked to the table, picked up a bible, looked at me and delivered THE most powerful, spirit-convicting sermon I have ever heard.
He looked straight into my eyes and said in a barely audible voice, “Church?”
Wiping my eyes, I saw my watch reading; Sunday / 11:00am. It was the day and hour of our church service, and I recalled; those who wait for the 11th hour often perish at 10:30. God often speaks in whispers, and I was blessed to hear His one word message.
Have an awesomely lived Sunday.
