3 Greatest Needs In Life & Only One Place To Find Them

Our 3 Greatest Needs

In the 80’s, I used to twist up the volume when David Lee Roth belted out “I Ain’t Got Nobody.” Actually, I’m partial to all of the music from that era, but that song was on my heart today.

This section of the song could apply to any one of us;

“I ain’t got nobody
Nobody, nobody cares for me, nobody, nobody
I’m so sad and lonely
Sad and lonely, sad and lonely
Won’t some sweet mama come and take a chance with me?
‘Cause I ain’t so bad”

We were created for relationships. God’s first +1 was Adam. He was created to glorify God, and the two hung out like best buds. Next, God created woman in Eve because man was not meant to be alone.

We were created by God to enjoy fellowship through relationships. But, they’re so hard and messy at times. Why’d God make it like that you might scoff.

We desire Love, Security & Significance. God provides all three. But once sin caused a separation between us and God, we’ve sought to satisfy ourselves.

We look for love in all the wrong places. We seek security in the temporary allure of cash, and we pursue significance in titles and promotions. We’ve tried to rely upon our own ability, and we were not designed to be that way. God created us for outward exposure through the intimacy of relationships.

For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never forsake you.” That is why we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

~ Hebrews 13:5-6

This is why we men find ourselves struggling daily with divorce, adultery, porn, debt, self-doubt, failure, pain, and thoughts of suicide.

We cannot and will not ever be able to replace the role God intended to play. His LOVE is unending. His SECURITY is uncompromising. His SIGNIFICANCE is incomparable.

David Lee Roth was right when he sang “Cause I ain’t so bad.” We’re not bad, we’ve just been separated from the source of what makes us great; GOD.

Much Love/Respect,
Scott
