Looking For Loopholes In The Bible?

Looking for Loopholes

Just before his death in 1946, famous actor, comedian and alley cat, W. C. Fields was visited by a friend as he read the bible. Surprised to find Fields with a bible, he asked what he was doing. Fields replied, “Looking for loopholes.”

We don’t know if he accepted Christ before his death, but we do know he was a staunch atheist through his life. But in that quick conversation, he showed an acknowledgement of heaven and thus the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, and a desire to be with them in heaven.

We don’t need a loophole to know Christ, or be assured of eternal life, and salvation in heaven with God. There is only one way, and it’s a free love offering.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

~ John 14:6

Let’s not waste our lives living in spite of Christ, or trying to disprove the indisputable. There will come a day of reckoning, and instead of skimming a book for alternative entry, why not be escorted to the Father by His Son, who loves us dearly.

Scott

Sowing Seeds Of Words That Matter

The Caller

You Matter:

Over 33 years ago while I was a lost soul attending the University of Southern Mississippi, an evangelist would visit the campus.

Reverend Jim was what the rambunctious students called him as they taunted and challenged him on every thing he said.

I knew nothing about God’s word then, but I always stayed toward the back of the crowd.

Sure, I kinda laughed, but I listened.

His courage and conviction to stand on an old wooden crate with nothing more than a megaphone and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ enraptured my attention.

I didn’t know it then, but he was planting seeds in my spirit that would bud before blooming a few years later. Of course, he has no idea who I was back then, but he mattered. His words and actions mattered, just like ours do today.

People are watching us. Mostly it’s our kids who will learn their first impressions of God by watching their dads.

What seeds are we planting in the souls of those watching us?

Let them be positive, life affirming seeds!

Scott

Again Jesus began teaching by the lake. A great crowd gathered around him, so he sat down in a boat near the shore. All the people stayed on the shore close to the water. Jesus taught them many things, using stories. He said, “Listen! A farmer went out to plant his seed. While he was planting, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground where there wasn’t much dirt. That seed grew very fast, because the ground was not deep. But when the sun rose, the plants dried up because they did not have deep roots. Some other seed fell among thorny weeds, which grew and choked the good plants. So those plants did not produce a crop. Some other seed fell on good ground and began to grow. It got taller and produced a crop. Some plants made thirty times more, some made sixty times more, and some made a hundred times more.” Then Jesus said, “Let those with ears use them and listen!”

It’s Good To Be A Good Man

It’s good to be a good man. I don’t mean in the sense of trying to be better than another man, but trying to be a better self. I’d bet we’re all better men than when we began.

Sure, we make mistakes, sin and fall short, but that doesn’t have to subtract points from the good man column thanks to forgiveness, repentance and restoration through Christ.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.

~ 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

What makes us a good man, or a better man than who we were, is our pursuit of the example of the best man. Our Father is the ultimate alpha male. He gives us unlimited examples through His word and life’s history to know Him.

He also gave us His son, Jesus Christ, so that good men could walk, talk and work alongside God’s best example of what a good man should be.

So maybe the better way to express it, is that it’s good to know the best Man so that we may become better men than who we were before we knew Him.

Forget Sticks And Stones; Your Words Will Break You

When I was a kid with six siblings, I loved to fight, mock and tease all of them no matter how much older some were. My goal was to torment them until they attacked. I didn’t care about the outcome, but I did care about the battle.

My mother warned me against making ugly faces at them and said one day that ugly face would stick. Although she didn’t realize it, she was right on the mark about violating God’s law of judgments.

The ugly nature we show others is what we will be shown.

It’s easy to pass judgment on others; whether we know them or not. But, we must understand that we are not God, and therefore have zero authority to judge anyone.

Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.

~ Matthew 7:1-2

The spiritual laws against judgment are set into motion against us unless we confess, repent and use our words to bless instead of condemn.

Unity Is The Key To Community: Brick Breakers Men’s Ministry

I pray you are having a blessed day. There is always so much emphasis placed on Monday’s. We either dread starting a new week, or we expect life-changing action just because it’s a new set of 24 hours.

I’ve been thanking God for using this day for whatever He choses to do with it. I’m also glad He allowed me to be in the day so I can be in His presence.

I know a lot of us are dealing with heavy stuff right now, but no need jamming more pressure into it because the calendar says, Monday.

Let’s band together to thank God for another day, and lift each other up in His presence. Unity is the key for relationships. There is nothing we cannot accomplish when we come together as a body of believers.

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

~ Ephesians 4:3

Here Comes That Dreamer. Let’s Kill Him.

“Here comes that dreamer.”

Ever experienced this reaction from family, friends, strangers because of your faith?

The day I told my parents of my salvation, they said it was a cult & didn’t speak to me. Yeah, that was a form of “let’s kill him,” but God knew what my future held with my folks, just as He knew Joseph’s future and like He knows yours.

“Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

Genesis 37:19-36

We shouldn’t worry what others whisper about us as we approach. We should worry if they don’t even know we’re Believers in Christ.

Here’s to everyone knowing that we are that Dreamer!!!!!

Be Careful What You Pray For. You Might Receive It.

This picture reminds me of the old saying, “Be careful what you ask for. You might just get it.”

When we enter the spiritual realm to pray, we must be prepared to receive God’s blessing. We must also be willing to become the vessel capable of accepting that blessing. That might mean we must be changed. This is where many of us drop the ball.

We don’t like change – whether good or bad, we rather things the way they are. Even if it means we miss God’s movement in our life.

Life upside down? God is working you over to set you straight!

Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.
