I would’ve loved to have faded into the vast acreage of this Napa vineyard, but I respected their requests to remain within the lanes. Those lines were created to ensure everyone maintained a safe experience.
If the lines were something I ultimately objected to, then it was my choice to remain on the old steam engine. I wasn’t going to influence anyone by hanging from the caboose while decrying or redefining lines.
DO WHAT I SAY
We’re an ITTT society because we like drawing lines. The lines we draw are not for the general well-being of others as much as they are to ensure we are ourselves being generally well. The self-centered condition of being well requires that our lines exclude others unless they agree that our condition of being well is well; well.
Pockets of micro-authoritarian control exercised across disunified social media platforms of feigned influence must be exhausting for those who genuinely assume they exert such tangible line-drawing influence over others. In other words: ITTT
If This, Then That is a computer conditional programming code adopted from a sociological decision matrix tree model. For example: Your current reaction was predicated upon a previous action, and so on and so on.
It applies to today’s line drawing in areas such as do this or else; believe that or else; wear, tear or comply with this, that or thereafter or else.
It’s all a fluid dynamic of including or excluding others through the vast but very imprecise application of drawing lines. Lingering in that vineyard one sunny afternoon as people moved before and beyond me, I allowed my heart to lean heavy upon the reality of lines.
ONLY ONE LINE
Ultimately there is only one line that matters. It’s the line drawn by God. That line simply means you will or you won’t spent eternity in heaven with God.
To be clear, you will live for eternity but on which side of that line determines where your forever is spent. It’s your choice, so choose wisely.
I’m reminded that in all of the expended energies we exhaust telling others ITTT, maybe we should be more like Jesus when He actually did draw a line. Check it out in John 8:1-11 – “Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. “
