As a young kid, I thought it was fantastic, and had visions of Stabler, Staubach, Bradshaw, Manning (Archie) and Tarkenton. In reality, it was a horrible idea to allow a 13 year old to go unsupervised. The score reflected it.
One of my most beloved pastors, Ronnie Melancon once explained why we get so exhausted after attending worship service. There’s a spiritual drop off after the mountain top experience. It’s not a bad thing he said, because we need the time to refresh.

He showed me to pursue friendships instead of expecting them because of my position and what others I could do for me. I had been a consumer of relationships instead of a giver of my time and attention.
We’re basically free to do as we please no matter the hurt or harm to others. Why? because the gaggle of cohorts will also be good once you all agree to terms 1 or 2 of the definition.
Has sexual sin trapped you the darkness of pain, shame or regret? The light of Christ will set the captive free!!!
But, oh my soul, come the weekends, we transform into “Guardians of the Galaxy” protective about sharing time outside the circle of family.
As a group of what looked like super model mixed company passed us, I peeked down at my supermarket flip flops. I laughed at the bottle opener built into the sole.
Sun Tan & Son Can I don’t know why I do it every year. It’s not like I’m a teenager or college […]
It’s easy and comfortable to stay self-contained with fellow believers, but that’s not what God called us to do. It’s also not my fight to engage this woman’s vile comments.
We cannot and will not ever be able to replace the role God intended to play. His LOVE is unending. His SECURITY is uncompromising. His SIGNIFICANCE is incomparable.
It’s easy and comfortable to force friendships from acquaintances, but God is calling His army together just as He assembled for King David’s rule.
Having an open hand with a closed heart gets you nothing but an empty palm. God didn’t lead them into the wilderness to die. He led them there so they might have eternal life.
Looking for Loopholes Just before his death in 1946, famous actor, comedian and alley cat, W. C. Fields was visited by a […]
People are watching us. Mostly it’s our kids who will learn their first impressions of God by watching their dads. What seeds are we planting in the souls of those watching us?
When I was a kid with six siblings, I loved to fight, mock and tease all of them no matter how much older some were. My goal was to torment them until they attacked. I didn’t care about the outcome, but I did care about the battle.
Unity is the key for relationships. There is nothing we cannot accomplish when we come together as a body of believers.
All I can say is that home is awesome, and our bed is the most comfortable thing in the world. Also, we’re in love with our My Pillows. They really are the best.
We also spent a late morning watching an extreme rain storm. While we were hopeful it would run out of rain, it seems that there’s much more rain being made for our Saturday departure.
The hotel’s got a great view, and even better food. Our conversation consisted of discussing our funeral wishes.
I often wonder what Leah does during these long rides. I now have proof that she was being “creative.”
We got to visit for a couple of hours and have a delicious home cooked meal. Let me tell you, we had Blue Bell ice cream and fresh Georgia peaches for dessert.
That’s a plate of Praline and Brown Sugar Bacon that we had as an appetizer at the hotel restaurant. Don’t tell anyone, but I ordered another plate of it for dessert because it was THAT GOOD.

Of course, Leah and I are crazy competitive. Last summer we spent about $500 bucks racing each other around a 3-story wooden go-kart race track. It wasn’t pretty
The ride to Memphis was a mixture of winding back roads and 18-wheeler in left and right lanes interstates. It got brutal for a few hours, but the goal was Beale Street and BBQ by night.
Speaking of marriage, it’s officially our anniversary. We pulled up to the hotel in Magnolia, Arkansas one minute until midnight. We kissed, high-fived, and thought about dancing under the carport
Fit@50 / week 17 The more things change: The last time I was in NYC was the early 1990’s working a wiretap for the DEA. My partner and I came up to join with the NYPD & DEA’s New York field office to track down criminals operating across country. WOW, that was a long time ago, but coming back this week also included lots of concentration on crime and dastardly villains. I’m presenting and attending International Thriller Writers Organization’s ThrillerFest while on […]
I’m Shaping Up; Week 9 Though I’m not a big fan of this word, it describes last week’s shaping up efforts; NO. No weight training. No cardio exercises. No adherence to Lt. Lane’s diet. Have I fallen off the health wagon? No. Times like last week can come out of nowhere, and rob us of the luxury of time we thought was ours to schedule. What does it mean for me personally? Well, it does not good beating myself up over it. […]
