you know in my years about 26 years of law enforcement I have testified on on local and state and federal courtprobably thousands of times testifying you’re up on the like you see on TV youknow and probably the hardest thing to learn as a rookie was when there’s nothing to sayjust say nothing I think as people we have this this this inclination in those awkwardgaps of Silence to say something and I want to encourage you when there’s really nothing to say just say nothingtake the time to linger let the space create the definition of what’s to be said because I’m going to tell you we’regoing to walk through today’s scripture and and and we’re going to see where where the syrop phenician woman comes toJesus asking for deliverance of her daughter and Jesus doesn’t say anything to her and when you first look at itit’s like seriously is he going to ignore this sister but what I want to show you is that that there’s momentswhere silence is golden and this is going to be one of those moments the one thing that I wantto share with you that really came out of this message is until your faith is tested is it really your faith likeFaith requires you to be relentless in pursuing what yourfaith you see be specific in speaking out your faith too many times we’re verygeneral and we’re very vague well I got faith I got faith what do you have faith inwho do you have faith in and what does that Faith look like look if it I lastWednesday at the equip class we said on paper on purpose you write it downthat’s a that’s on purpose there’s an intention that what you’ve written is what you declare and you haveexpectation of of that coming to pass so I want to challenge you when we as we goforward when we just talk about well I got faith I got faith sometimes like if you’retimid in your faith what I want to tell you is you’re not really faithful you’rekind of hoping to get lucky like I got faith I’m gonna getthat job well did you speak it out loud did you share it no I’m I’m gonna waitand see how it works out first then that’s not being faithful you’re just hoping to get a stroke of luck and thenyou’re going to give God the credit on the back end let’s give God the credit in the beginningthere is nothing more powerful than speaking out words of faith and then watching it come to passthat’s when you get to go I told you so I told you so and the word that tells usso is today’s anchor scripture if we can stand together as a body and let’s read this wordtogether it’s always good before you say I Told You So to know exactly what you’re saying and exactly what you’retelling is the truth and this word is the truth because it’s the word of the Lord so we’re going to read this is fromMark 7:2 24-30 and we’ll begin as the body together from there he arose andwent to the region of Tyra and siden and he entered a house and wanted no one toknow it but he could not be hidden for a woman whose young daughter had an unclean Spirit heard about him and shecame and fell at his feet the woman was a Greek syrop by birth and she keptasking him to cast The Demon out of her daughter but Jesus said to her let thechildren be filled first for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs and sheanswered and said to him yes Lord yet even the little dogs under the table eatfrom the children’s crumbs then he said to her for this saying go your way thedemon has gone out of your daughter and when she had come to her house she found the demon gone and her daughter lying onthe bed amen thank you Jes Jesus that is a good goodword now right before service someone suggested that a better title for thismessage would be who let the dogs out and I thought you know you’re rightand I wish you had have texted me a couple days ago but but it’s still a good still a good alternative title so Iwant to walk through this scripture I want to get back into walking through the gospel Mark7:24 it says from there he arose and went to the region of Ty and siden whatI want to tell you is Jesus had left Galilee to go on a journey deep intoGentile territory you see by this time in his ministry he had really stoppedexplaining Parables to the Pharisees he had been in battled he had been it wasjust confrontation remember I tell you as your influence grows so does the opposition that’s and Jesus was facingopposition but you know he had a mission and I want to share that with you despite your opposition stick to themission if the Lord’s called you to do something and he put your hand to the plow do not allow the birds and thecrows and the Crickets to distract you from the job these Pharisees were strictly trying to to distract him youknow what Jesus’s Focus had to be at this point they were on his disciples you see Jesus was laying out a a kingdombuilding blueprint plan and if the disciples didn’t get it right it was going to kind of go away when Jesus didso Jesus leaves his his ministry Center which is in Capernaum in the region of Galilee and just for for Geographicreference it it’s like it’s like Midlothian that’s located inside of Ellis County so you’ve got Galileethat’s the region and then you got Capernaum and that’s where Jesus after he was kind of run out of his hometownof Nazareth this is where he located in Capernaum it was it was strategically located it’s by the Sea of Galilee andit had become his second home but he but he decided to leave that to go up to Ty and siden now just so youhave some geographical reference is Capernaum which is Jesus’s Center Center uh area of ministry it’s right thereright above the green Galilee it’s about 85 miles north of Jerusalem and Capernaum is about 35miles south of Ty and about 50 miles south of sidon now Ty and sidon wereabout 20 miles apart now you got to remember like this isn’t like going to Arlington to go to The Studio MovieGrill like they’re walking they’re walking they’re beating their feet everywhere they go so they say well it’sjust 20 miles like that’s significant that issignificant and and so when we see Jesus when he goes up to to to um siden andtire these both of these cities are located by the Mediterranean Sea and they’re called syrop phenician citiesand all that means is when Rome conquered Phoenicia and Syria they combined the rule and it became known assyrop phenician it doesn’t mean anything more fancy or anything other than that so I just want to show you that Jesusleft the area of Galilee and he makes this kind of circular route and he findshimself deep deep in Gentile territory so Mark uh 7:24 continues andit says and he entered a house and wanted no one to know it but he could not be hidden like the reality is Jesusis about 50 miles away from his home base from his home church he is in agentile region how do people still know who he is like how does word travel nobody puta Tik Tock or a calendar invite or or blasted him on social media like how didthey know this was Jesus the Christ well let’s back up to to Mark 3 you see ifyou remember Jesus had held a mass he healing and deliverance session back in Mark 3 people literallycame from everywhere to see the Christ to be healed to be delivered Mark 3:7 uh78 tells us Jesus went out to the lake with his disciples and a large crowdfollowed him they came over uh all over Galilee Judea Jerusalem idiom from eastof the Jordan River and even as far as from North Ty and sidon the the newsabout his miracles had spread far and wide and vast numbers of people came tosee him this is why when he shows up 50 mifrom home in a deep Gentile territory that these people knew he was the Christthey knew who he was because they had traveled down to Galilee to see him at this Mass healing and deliverance likewhen people follow Jesus they’re all in about Jesus theydon’t let the weather distract act them and the Wi-Fi connection but we ask well how does thiswoman who’s identified as a Greek and a syran how does she know who he is wellmaybe she was there maybe she was one of the people from tyn Sid and that went down back inMark 3 to see the healing and deliverance maybe she wasn’t but it saysshe heard about him how did she hear about Jesus someone shared the testimony ofJesus how are the people in your life going to hear about the Christ from you that’s right if you’renot sharing the testimony the goodness of God people aren’t going to hear abouthim people aren’t going to have Deliverance people aren’t going to get healed people aren’t going to get set free if you’re not sharing the good newsof Jesus Christ you see this woman Matthew I’m going to jump into Matthew quite a bit it’s the same it’s the samestory but it gives a little more detail but Matthew tells us in 15:22 and beholda woman of Canaan came uh to that region from that region the woman wasn’t just agentile she was a Canaanite so we say well okay what’s wrong withthat well you see back in Deuteronomy it tells us Deuteronomy 7:2 it tells usthat that God had delivered the Canaanites over to be utterly destroyedliterally this woman is a dead woman walking she should not EX exist theCanaanite should have been wiped off the face of the Earth back in Deuteronomy 7:2 it says when when the Lord your Goddelivers them over to you you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them yet here she was do y’all ever feellike that deide despite all the odds against you when the natural world looksat you and says you should not be here today my goodness when when worship was singing about the Lord the god thatsaved my life like that just that just hitss my strings he saved my life he has savedall of our lives but when the world is telling you you’re not supposed to be here you’re not supposed to be marriedyou’re not supposed to be a mom you’re not supposed to be employed you’re sure not supposed to be in a Christianchurch but God butGod you see as a syr phenician she was under Ro Roman rule under Roman rule meshe was also uh associated with all the pagan gods of Rome now you’re thinking well she’scursed she shouldn’t even be on the earth um she’s got a daughter that’sdemon possessed she’s a syrop phenician she’s a Roman she’s agentile it’s Ahabshe was very dominant her husband was very passive Ahab was a seventh king of Israel and he she led him to lead thenation of Israel to worship Baal Baal was the nature God supposedly the theruler don’t want that billboard outside your town home of Jezebelit’s time to find a new home but yet this sister with everything else against her was from the same Hometown what Iwant to tell you she was a mess this sister from the outside worldwas a mess but you see when she came to the Christ even though Jesus is looking fora break I just want to get away with my 12 I got to focus on what’s Happeningand she’s Relentless in pursuing him Jesus did condemn her and he didn’t he didn’t run heroff she had Faith she had Faith because either she was there at the Sea ofGalilee to watch the healing and deliverance or somebody told her girl I went down to Galilee there was this guynamed Jesus you heard about him no not really but let me tell you what he did he was healing and he was casting outdemons he was speaking with such Authority I was whacked out of mymind so so now she’s got faith you see so when he shows up and she defies allsocial Moray and she goes and she relentlessly pursues him what I want to tell you is anequipping moment for the body like where does your faith comefrom and I don’t mean this in a in any way other than out of love andconviction but I want to ask have you where your faith is involved uh concerned have you ever witnessed ahealing a Deliverance a miracle I mean witnessed it and then Iwant to ask you if you’ve not if you’ve not ever watched or seen or witnessed orexperienced a physical healing a demonic Deliverance a true miracle if you’ve notever seen that with your own eyes how does it make you feel aboutpeople who have are you skeptical do youdoubt you see I find sometimes that the word believer is an oddtitle because to be honest many don’t really trulybelieve you see they’ll accept or they’ll tolerate like as long as it as long asit doesn’t go past a little bit of what I’m comfortable with I’m cool I’m coolyou see but when you go past where I’m com if you go past where my feelings arecozy I’m out I’m going to go find another church I’m just going to stay at home I’m goingto go find something that doesn’t look Supernatural I’m going to find something that doesn’t cause my belief to bechallenged so what I want to what I want to ask you I want to ask you to to break offthe top of the alabaster jar I don’t want your belief to be be meded out inlittle drops I want you to break the top of the alabaster jar off I want you to pourout your ability to believe I want you to bewilling to receive the Full Gospel of Jesus Christ when Jesus says I’ve cometo preach the gospel when Jesus says I’ve come to heal when Jesus says Greek words used for that arathos impure unclean foul LW Mark 56tells us when he saw Jesus from afar he ran and worshiped him the word in theGreek is pronio it means to show homage by kissing the hand prostration layingDivine adoration worship this was the demoniac of gadera possessed by Legion6,000 demons yet the Man rushed fell at the feet of Jesus to worship him thissister did the same thing this syrop phenician Gentile Roman Pagan Godworshiping H girl with Jezebel saw the Christ and had the samereaction you don’t have to go to a Bible College you don’t have to follow a hundred different pastors on Tik Tock toknow the Christ when you’re in the presence of Christ am what you got to do is you got to comeand you got to be willing to fall at the feet of theChrist this was what this sister did this sister had tried everythingelse how many of us have done that you know I remember when I used toI grew up going to martial arts and then I got out of martial arts for a long time and I’m like well I’m going to go back when when I get in shape do youknow how do you get in shape for martial arts by going to martial artsoh I want to get back in the gym and work out when are you going to go back to the gym when I get back in shape doyou know how you get in shape to go to the gym by going to the gym but what dowe do we try everything else before we sign up and go to the gym this sisterhad tried everything but now at the feet of theChrist she’s doing what what Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 1:9 for theythemselves declare concerning us what manner of Entry we had to you and howyou turned to God from Idols to serve the living and true God this sister hadbeen through it all she had tried everything butJesus and now she’s come to Christ what I want to tell you is no matter where you’ve been no matter what you’ve doneno matter what you thought no matter what you hoped for no matter matter your Idols or your karma or your hope or youror your astrology it don’t matter today is yourday to put it all away and come to the Christ and only theChrist you see this the sister had every every demonic wh box checkedoff you look at her natural resume it was a demonic resume had she done badthings in her life yeah it was probably her lifestyle that exposed her her young daughter to demonicpossession but today on that day that she she came and pronio before Jesus theChrist she checked the one box that mattered and that box is Jesus Mark 7:26tells and she kept asking him to cast The Demon out of her daughter you know like like parents we got little kidslike dad daddy daddy daddythis is her she’s relent Relentless and she’s p uh she’s persistent like can youimagine how heartbroken and helpless this mother feels her daughter is possessed not oppressed not like oh I’mfeeling she is possessed by a demon and here’s a mom no matter whatlife she live that’s her girl and she can’t do anything about it there’snothing she can do about it you know why this little girl was possessed becausethere’s no Holy Spirit within this mother is going to do anything and everything to rescue herdaughter to have her daughter rescued what I want to tell you and I want to continue to remind you if you have JesusChrist as your lord and savior you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit you have the same power to cast out demons asJesus does you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you you cannot be possessed bya demon there’s only room for one and that one is the one Lord that is the holy spiritnow can you still be oppressed suppressed you can but you’ve got thesame power through the Holy Spirit to cast it out so then we go to Mark7:26 she kept asking him she kept asking him to cast out the demon like whydidn’t Jesus answer her I mean come on just like okay I gotit I cast you out like why didn’t Jesus why didn’t he answerher what I want to share with you in this time this is when silence isgolden you see Jesus intentionally did not answer her he wasn’t ignoring heryou see because Jesus’s purpose was always to lead people back to the fatherhe would not have ignored her and allowed her to walk off what I’m going to show you is what Jesus was doing hewas allowing her to work out her faith through fear and trembling similar to what Paul talks about in Philippians 2uh 12 and 13 like it was through working out her own faith that she came into aright understanding of who Jesus was as an equipping moment for the bodywhat I want to share with you is sometimes it’s best not to say anythingwhen people come into the presence of of God like like as a body a ministering body when when you see someone who ishaving an encounter with God I know the natural thing is you want to run up and you want to hug them and you want tohold them and you want to start talking to them usediscernment understand that they are having a one-on-one encounter with the Living God like don’t be so quick tojump in don’t interfere in their encounter with the Living Godyou see sometimes when when we’ve had people that they they they get overwhelmed by the presence of the HolySpirit what we call slain in the spirit make sure they’re safe but let them have that experiencewith the Living God had Jesus jumped in and started explaining things to herlike he’s done before where he’s tried to explain through Parables it would have just met with rejection andmisunderstanding so what Jesus Jesus did was he gave her the opportunity to work through her personal understanding andcome into Faith of Christ what I want to share with you is conversation does not bringSalvation confession does yes am confessing the Christ bringsunderstanding and salvation you see what I want to share with you is this is such a powerfulpiece of scripture and I’m going to jump over to the gospel of Matthew for this gives more detail and it’s Matthew15:22 and behold a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to himsaying have mercy on me oh Lord son of David my daughter severely demonpossessed what I want to share with you is this sister there’s three statementsthat she makes that Jesus then his silence allowed her to work out herfaith and understanding of who he is because he he didn’t intervene immediately his silence was golden andallowed her to come into an understanding when she says have mercy on me in the Greek Mercy is Elio itmeans have compassion on to obtain pardon and forgiveness this sister isrepenting have mercy on me now what I want to tell you is her experience withpagan gods pagan gods they don’t give Mercy they want skin in the game theywant sacrifice so for her to come to Christ and sayhave mercy on me she is asking for unearned unmarried Grace favor andforgiveness this sister is repenting of hersins and then she says oh Lord she calls himLord in the Greek the word for that she uses is kyos and and that’s used forLord Jesus Christ god Jehovah it’s just not like a vernacular term like ohLord Oh Lord you know what Romans 10:13says for whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall besaved do you think there’s power and her repentance have mercy forgive me of mysins oh Lord and then she calls him son ofDavid she addresses Jesus with the proper Messianic title she’s referring to Jesus’s uhdirect descendant ship from King David 2 Samuel 76 it establishes that she is affirmingOld Testament prophecy and your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you talking about Davidyour throne shall be established Forever This sister came and she was Jesus heyhey hey hey I got a little problem hey hey and Jesus doesn’t respond to her heallows her to work out herfaith where she is repentant for all of her sins for her idol worship for herpaganism for all the sins that she’s that she’s lived this life of then Jesusallowed her to work that out through fear and trembling have mercy on me ohLord call on the name of the Lord and be saved oh son ofDavid you’d think this sister got it right that’s the gospel message in onesentence that is powerful and it’s beautiful but it onlycomes when we have the need if we’re trying to be too smart about itor too fancy about it or too academic about it no all youneed is to have a need and Jesus is the only one to fillthat need so I want to be clear that Jesus was not ignoring herJesus was allowing her the opportunity to relentlessly pursue her faith by notnot getting offended and not walking off and then giving her the opportunityto speak her confession of theChrist we talked about it during our during our Advent series about blessingsblessings that that those are spoken words of favor and praise a blessingwithout the verbal expression it’s just you’re just missing the point this is the same thing she was repenting she wasconfessing to the Christ you see we know that that that Jesus that he wasn’tignoring her that he wasn’t disrespecting her that she came humbly to him because John 6:37 tells us allthat the father gives me will come to me and the one who comes to me which wasthis sister I will by no means cast them out so I don’t want you tomisunderstand why didn’t he just answer I want you to apply this in your ownlife sometimes the best thing to say is nothing you know when I counsel peopleso there’s times where I probably don’t say more than 10 words you just listen you just listenand you let people work out their faith their Relentless Faith through their through theirconfessions you know as an equipping moment I want to I want to again share to you don’t forget that Jesus is ateacher Jesus has created an illustration not just for the woman he’s going to do a service for her but thebigger picture is for those watching because again if you remember Jesus hebrings he brings the 12 across the Sea of Galilee they go to the region of the gines and they cast out uh the demoncalled Legion which the Roman army Roman legion is about 6,000 so there was about6,000 demons in this one guy the demoniac that we call him like why didJesus do that well if you remember he was about to send the disciples out two by two andgive them the same power and authority to heal and cast out so as a teacher as a good teacher you give anillustration you explain it you demonstrate it and then you let the student practically apply it so hebrought those those 12 Brothers across the Sea of Galilee and he show he here’s a guy with 6,000 demons like how many ofus would have been like I’m out like I’m out thank you Jesus but I’m going to findanother way back across the Sea of Galilee no Jesus brought those Brothers across the sea to show them the completepower and authority over the Demonic world when Jesus said out they wereout now what’s Jesus doing here it is again here is a woman who could be nofurther from God than this poor sister she was a pagan she was a syropphenician she was from the hometown of Jezebel if you looked at somebody youdon’t people say when they come into church I see him for the first time like well the building hadn’t burned down andit hurts my heart to hear him say that but I understand the hesitation when they when they come into a church forthe first time this would have been that sister she had everything going againsther and what does Jesus do he brings the 12 all the way into Gentile territoryyou know them old boys are like what are we doing here there ain’t no water burger like what are we doinghere this is what we’re doing here you see Jesus as the teacher had this onewoman who could be no further from God than her and he used the illustration that even a syop phenician Greek PaganGod worshipper from the hometown of Jezebel can work out her faith through fear andtrembling if you give her the opportunity as she comes to the Christ to confess the Christ like that’s apowerful lesson I want it to be a lesson not lost on the body I don’t care who wecome across I talk to people all time man that guy at work is just give me headaches this person over here just driving me crazy amen for that amen forthe power of opportunity to show the illustration of the authority of JesusChrist the authority of Jesus Christ so we say well you know what that is agood lesson but like why do the disciples need another lesson like these guys are 24/7 with Jesus they’ve beentogether for a while well let me let me read from Matthew Matthew1523 and his disciples came and urged him saying sendher away for she cries out after us like this sister’s making a Ruckus Jesus tellher to go home where’s the heart of compassion from these disciples what Iwant to tell you in the Greek the word urged is to request to beg tobeseech like instead of showing the Father’s Heart of compassion they’re begging Jesus to run her off because shekeeps yelling she’s interfering in their in their quiet time when it says she’s cries out in the Greek it’s kso it’s tocry in supplication a prayer request or a plea for prayer can you imagine altarMinistry corporate prayer and someone comes up to you to ask for prayer andyou scream at them and tell them to get out of the church that’s what the disciples aredoing this is what they’re doing you think Jesus still has some work to dowith his disciples yeah can I ask you is therestill work to be done in you yeah did Jesus give up on themno will he give up on you no not at all so I want to walk through this lastpart did Jesus call her a dog Mark7:27 but Jesus said to her let the little children be filled first for it is not good to take the children’s breadand throw it to the little dogs and she answered and said to him yes Lord Lord yet even the little dogs under the tableeat from the bread from the children’s crumbs Jesus didn’t call her a dog Jesus is using a meal time Parable it’s simpleyou got a kid at the table you put food on the table the kid eats the food at the table you don’t put the kid at thetable food on the table knock the food off on the floor and let the dogs eat the food and the kid go hungry it’spriority that’s all it is that’s all it is it is spiritual priority for bringingsalvation to the Jews first this is why Jesus was here the Gentiles would receive salvation but not now there is apriority Paul affirms this in Romans 1:16 for I am not ashamed of the gospelof Christ for it is the power of God for to Salvation for everyone everyone whobelieves for the Jew first and also for the Greek there is a spiritual prioritythe kingdom of God has order it has structure a lot of times our feelingsthink differently but your feelings aren’t fact right right so Jesus issimply giving her a parable this is priority mysister and she understood that you see she showed great faith so what I findsome people like well why did he have to use the dog Parable because it kind of sounded insulting well let me ask youdid Jesus give her a little dig I want to tell you maybe he didmaybe you could have found a different Parable keep your feelings but you know what I want to tell you sometimes Jesussaid hard things that the world and our delicate sensibilities see as hard whatdid he tell the Rich Young Ruler like this Rich Young God comes says I have followed everything every commanded Ihave been perfect I’ve have done it all now what I mean can you imagine today some somerich person coming going you know what I’m perfect perfect a matter of fact I’m going to repaint this wholesanctuary if you do this this and this no that’s not the way the gospel works you see you go sell everything you gotso your first introduction to me is not how rich you are you go sell it all andthen you come back and he didn’t come back what did Jesus do when wheneverybody was clamoring and then he tells them you got to eat my flesh and you got to drink myblood and they all left even his own deciples like Rabbi that’s some hardwords you see some people think well well you know Jesus talked to everybody like little children no he didn’t hetalked to him like the king he gave him the truth of the word you see so so didhe give this sister a little dig well you know what I kind of like to think that maybe he did because you know whatit did when it says and she answered and said to him yes Lord even the littledogs under the table able eat the children’s crumbs what what I see in that she had a very intimate veryinteresting personal interaction with the Living God what a beautiful opportunity I meanwhen you read that and you and you knock the religiosity off of it we just talk in real life here’s Jesus here’s asingle mom in need she’s begging for help he doesn’t answer immediately she probably shocked herself in found that demon gone out and the daughter lying over the bed what I want to tell you is Jesus’s Authority iscomplete Jesus didn’t even have to be at that house Jesus didn’t have to make a big production lay hands on this sisterand have live stream video going at the same time his power and authority is absolutely complete if you have JesusChrist your lord and savior you have that same complete Authority through the Holy Spirit what I want to what I wantto encourage is that this it’s possible that the mother’s Pagan lifestyle openthe door for the daughter’s possession I want to sayparents be aware of the doors that you open like do not bring the devil intoyour kids’ room make sure that the life you’re living is a righteous life make sure that our children are not subjectedto
