Many religions no longer feed the masculine soul of a man. Why? Because the shift toward single moms and grandparents raising their progeny has tilted the church’s focus toward our wonderful sisters.
It wasn’t their choice—it was our absence.
Therein lies my plight. Although I’ve spent my entire career being in the center, I never felt that I belonged wherever it was I found myself. I’m not an introvert by any stretch of the imagination, but there’s always this nagging tick of inferiority.
It’s easy and comfortable to stay self-contained with fellow believers, but that’s not what God called us to do. It’s also not my fight to engage this woman’s vile comments.
It’s easy and comfortable to force friendships from acquaintances, but God is calling His army together just as He assembled for King David’s rule.
Of course, jobs and families play a role, but we, men still see ourselves as singular in nature and without a need for close bonds or the intimacy of friendship.
What makes us a good man, or a better man than who we were, is our pursuit of the example of the best man. Our Father is the ultimate alpha male.
